Instagram for Small Businesses in India — A Simple Weekly Routine
By the LikeAdda team · 5 September 2026 · 2 min read
You don't need a social media manager to make Instagram work for a small business. You need a routine you'll actually keep up, and a page that doesn't look abandoned when a customer finds it.
The weekly routine
Monday — a "what's new" post. New stock, today's special, a fresh batch. One clear photo or a 10-second reel.
Wednesday — behind the scenes. Packing orders, the morning prep in the kitchen, the tailor at work. People trust businesses they can see.
Friday — a customer moment. A happy customer (with permission), a review screenshot, a before/after.
Daily — stories. Quick, low-effort updates: opening time, a deal, a poll. Stories keep you at the top of followers' screens.
Make the profile do the selling
- Name field: include what you do and where — "Sharma Sweets | Indore". The name field is searchable.
- Bio: what you sell, one line on why you, and how to order (WhatsApp link, location).
- Highlights: Menu/Catalogue, Prices, Reviews, Location.
Use location and language
Tag your city or neighbourhood on every post. Write captions in the language your customers use — Hinglish is completely fine.
Don't let the numbers scare customers away
A customer comparing two salons will usually trust the one with 4,000 followers and active posts over the one with 180. If your page is new, a modest base of Indian followers plus likes on your best posts closes that gap while your real audience builds. Many local businesses also add Facebook page followers, because customers in smaller towns often check Facebook first.
Measure one thing
Each month, check how many enquiries came from Instagram (DMs, WhatsApp clicks, "saw you on Insta"). That's the number that matters.
