How to Grow a WhatsApp Channel in India — A Starter Guide

By the LikeAdda team · 1 October 2026 · 2 min read

WhatsApp Channels are one-way broadcast feeds inside WhatsApp — the app nearly every Indian already opens dozens of times a day. That makes them powerful for shops, news pages, coaching institutes and creators.

Set it up properly

  • Name: your brand plus what you post — "Mehta Electronics Deals", "Daily Current Affairs Hindi".
  • Photo: your logo, readable at a tiny size.
  • Description: what you post and how often.

Post with a rhythm

Followers mute channels that spam. Two to five useful posts a day works for news and deals; one a day is fine for most businesses.

Promote it everywhere you already are

  • Add the channel link to your Instagram bio and YouTube descriptions.
  • Put a QR code at your shop counter.
  • Mention it at the end of reels: "Join our WhatsApp channel for daily deals."

Get past the first 100

A channel with 23 followers doesn't get joined. Adding a base of WhatsApp channel members — Indian members if your audience is local — makes it look established while your promotion kicks in. Emoji reactions on posts make the feed feel alive.

Use polls

Polls are interactive and fun, and they tell you what your audience wants next.

Track what matters

For businesses: messages and orders that mention the channel. For creators: how many channel followers click through to your other content.
